In the week to 2 January 2022, overall retail footfall in the UK was 75% of the level seen in the equivalent week of 2019. This is lower than the previous week where overall retail footfall was at 86% of the equivalent week of 2019.

The total volume of online job adverts on 31 December 2021 was at 121% of its February 2020 average level, a 4% decrease from the previous week. The highest level of job adverts relative to February 2020 continued to be in the 'transport, logistics and warehouse' category, at 260%.

November has seen almost a quarter of workers actively planning to change employers within the next few months, with many planning to resign due to burnout caused by the pandemic.

Job vacancies are at a record high, rising to 1.17 million in the three months to October.

Latest figures also show the number of workers on payrolls jumped by 160,000 in October, despite the end of the furlough scheme.

The National Health Service is the top recruiter across all boroughs in London with Professional Occupations (Health Professionals) and Elementary Occupations (Administration and Service Occupations) dominating vacancies. Skills Bootcamps offer free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks for adults aged 19 or over and who are either in work or recently unemployed. Some Skills Bootcamps have additional eligibility criterias. They give people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with a local employer. Skills Bootcamps in HGV driving are due to be added to the list in November.
