How to get a job as a London Underground, bus, tram or train driver and earn up to £100,000 a year
One of the most Googled Transport for London (TfL)-related questions is "How to become a Tube driver?"
The answer is simple but the process to actually step into the cab and whizz through London's tunnels is notoriously difficult.
Becoming a train driver is slightly easier because positions are externally advertised unlike the Tube. However, they are extremely competitive with thousands often applying for a single role.
Bus and tram driver positions are generally more obtainable, simply because there are more positions as London has over 700 bus routes and the training required is not as rigorous as that of a train driver. These roles can often be more rewarding though as there is more contact with passengers and work-life balance is generally easier to obtain.
